Vaguely Qualified Productions was vaguely formed in
2004 when Negin approached Kimmy about directing and developing her solo show
Bootleg Islam for the New York International Fringe Festival
. The show was so well received all over the country (“smart, funny and fascinating”
Wall Street Journal) that they decided to continue working together. They started pitching TV shows, writing scripts, and producing documentaries.
Vaguely Qualified was formed in earnest in the winter of 2005. Although, between them, Negin and Kimmy share 2 Master’s Degrees, 3 majors, 7 TV credits, 4 commercials, and 867 comedy shows, they have never shaken the comedian’s self deprecating feeling of inadequacy, therefore “Vaguely Qualified.” You’ll find them early in the morning working at a little blue table in the East Village.
